Summit Outside

Client: Summit Series

Role: Junior Producer & Experience Designer, Hospitality

Summit Outside - an unprecedented physical and intellectual safari attended by 1000 thought leaders - was the first flagship Summit event on Powder Mountain. A vibrant Bedouin-style tent village served as home base for three days of adventure, engaging content and workshops in the wilderness.

Guests were greeted with a hospitality program that included hidden speakeasies lit off the trails at night with only a single Edison bulb to lure them towards the hidden destination; an ice cream truck passing out green juice, Intelligentsia baristas making specialty coffees, and a hidden ramen bar in an abandoned school bus.

The flagship moment in the event was a 1/4 mile long picnic dinner for all guests on Saturday night, which I partnered with the Director of Hospitality to design and produce: "Imagine a meadow nestled between mountains in the Utah Rockies, tall grasses glowing golden in the evening light. And in that meadow, there is a dinner table. It happens to be a quarter of a mile long, laden with cheese and charcuterie and extra-large flasks of whiskey to sate what would soon become a party of 1000 guests.

The icing on the proverbial cake of the experience was a community toast that erupted as a roaring wave down the table right as the sun was setting over the mountains. This moment gave me goose bumps. This is my north start moment that drives me to continue designing meaningful community experiences.
